These days, most after-school activities for kindergarten kids in Singapore usually involve sports, music or enrichment classes. While it is good to give the kids a head start, sometimes it is better to just let them play and relax after school.
Outdoor play is beneficial in sharpening the social and motor skills of children, as well as improving their physical and mental health.
If you are looking for outdoor play areas where you can take your kids to after picking them up from preschool or childcare, here are some cool playgrounds near the Bishan and Ang Mo Kio areas to explore.
Bishan-Ang Mo Kio Park – 3 Play Areas to Explore!
Bishan-Ang Mo Kio Park is sure to keep your preschoolers engaged in outdoor play with their three different playgrounds.
Adventure Playground at Bishan-Ang Mo Kio Park
The Adventure playground was renovated and reopened in January 2019, and now features a whole lot more structures for kids to play in, including a wooden fort and poles.
The original play structure like the rope pyramid and hill still stand but the old fort has been replaced with a two-level pirate ship play structure and climbing poles. Placed next to the hill, the pirate ship play structure features two slides, climbing poles and a variety of play panels.
There is also a dedicated play area for young children with bucket swings, smaller play structures and a merry-go-round.

Water Playground at Bishan-Ang Mo Kio Park
Located in the same park, this playground uses unique water features that teach kindergarteners lessons about Singapore’s water systems. Water flows down from “springs” located at the top of a slope, and children can control the flow of water with metal sluice gates. Meandering and barrier structures allow kids to observe how water flows under different conditions.
Do note that the water at the playground is turned on from Thursdays to Sundays, from 8am to 11am and 4pm to 8pm.
